Episode Summary
The first challenge sends Naruto to Mount Myoboku to train in senjutsu, walking the path Jiraiya walked to gain the power needed against Pain. The episode begins the Sage Mode training — Fukasaku as teacher, the toads' mountain, the dangerous art of gathering natural energy that turns the unwary to stone. Naruto takes up his master's mantle in the most literal way, training where Jiraiya trained for the enemy that killed him. The road to Sage Mode opens, grief fueling the hardest training of Naruto's life.
