Team 7's first mission closes the Kakashi ANBU filler arc by circling back to the beginning, the bell test and the team that started it all. The episode develops the anime-original backstory's resolution — Kakashi taking on Team 7, the echoes of his own past in his new students, the shadow years finally behind him. Sealed inside its filler frame, it returns to canon's threshold. Competent and warm, the callback is affecting in its bubble and outside the timeline, the arc's close before the war's canon climax resumes.
