Episode Summary
The first exam is a written test, and the written test is a lie. Ibiki Morino, Konoha's chief interrogator, lays out rules designed to be misread: questions no genin can solve, proctors marking down cheaters — minus points per catch, not expulsion. The real skill being tested is intelligence gathering: Sasuke's Sharingan copies pencil strokes, Ino possesses Sakura, Tenten rigs mirrors to the ceiling, the Byakugan simply reads through skulls. Naruto, who never realizes any of this, sweats over a blank page.
